What is Latisse?

The solution found in this medication is bimatoprost. Initially, bimatoprost was marketed with a trade name called Lumigan and it was used as an eyedrop for patients with glaucoma. Lastisse was developed when they unexpectedly found that eyelash growth was a side-effect of using Lumigan.

How Is Latisse Used?

Latisse is extremely easy to use. All you have to do is apply it along the lines of your upper eyelids, where your eyelashes grow from. Make sure you do not apply it along your lower lash lines. It is recommended that you apply it once every day for about two months, and you will see great results.  

Make sure that you wash your hands and your face first before applying Latisse. You should also remove any eye makeup and contact lenses. You can put your lenses back on 15 minutes after application. Put just one drop on the applicator and gently swipe this along your upper lash line, starting from your inner lash line and going towards your outer lash line.

A new applicator should be used every single day, and each applicator should be thrown away after use. Never re-use it any cost. You don’t have to worry even if the solution goes inside your eye as no harm will be caused. Remember the same solution is used for treating glaucoma.

While the results of Latisse are often excellent, it should be noted that not every user will get the same results. Even your eyelashes may react in different ways. What you can expect, however, is a significant improvement in the growth of your lashes.

Am I A Suitable Candidate For Latisse?

If you have brittle and pale eyelashes that break or fall easily before they can grow long, or you are simply unhappy with your natural eyelashes, Latisse is a great solution for you. However, it is important to have realistic expectations from the medication. It’s an effective treatment, but does have its own limitations.

Studies have been conducted to see how Latisse works in patients with alopecia areata and chemotherapy patients. Although results from alopecia patients were mixed, chemotherapy patients showcased a promising outcome.
