What Is the PicoSure® Pro Used to Treat?
The PicoSure® Pro device emits a concentrated beam of light, or laser, to treat various skin concerns. What sets it apart from other laser treatments is its use of photomechanical (vibration) laser energy instead of photothermal (heat) energy. Photomechanical laser energy can be applied to three categories of symptoms:
Hyperpigmentation
This action is often utilized for instances of hyperpigmentation, such as:
- Surgery and injury scars
- Melasma
- Sunspots
- Liver spots
- Freckles
During these types of treatments, the laser is administered in ultra-short picosecond pulses (every trillionth of a second). The resulting vibrations break apart these undesired pigments so that they can be eliminated by the body.
Unwanted Tattoos
This same strategy can be applied to tattoo removal. By shattering the artificial tattoo pigments, they become small enough to be absorbed by the immune system. With the PicoSure® Pro, we can switch between multiple wavelengths to reduce tattoos of all colors.

What Happens During a PicoSure® Pro Session?
Your PicoSure® Pro session will take place in the comfort of our medical spa. If necessary, a topical numbing solution can be applied after cleansing the treatment area(s). Next, the device’s applicator is gradually moved across the skin where the laser energy is needed. The wavelength will be adjusted to each type of symptom as required.
After Your PicoSure® Pro Treatment
There is typically little to no recovery necessary after a PicoSure® Pro session. Depending on the skin issues treated, patients might need multiple appointments to achieve their desired results. The effects of most PicoSure® Pro procedures are meant to be permanent, barring the accumulation of additional blemishes. For aging skin, follow-up treatments may be needed in the future to maintain your results.
